Founded in 2004 by former Square Enix USA employees, Xseed Games have quickly become one of the best publishers for hardcore gamers. They were willing to take chances at some niche Japanese titles and localized them for the west. Their portfolio so far includes Brave Story: New Traveler, KORG DS-10, Retro Game Challenge, Shadow Hearts: From the New World and most of the Wild Arms series.
Xseed Games is keeping their feet on the pedal with several big releases coming later in 2009. Here are five of the best upcoming games being published by Xseed Games.
Arc Rise Fantasia (Nintendo Wii)
The Nintendo Wii is severely lacking in titles from the RPG genre. Xseed Games’ Arc Rise Fantasia should be able to satisfy impatient fans with its old-school approach. Developed by Marvelous Entertainment and Image Epoch (the same team responsible for Luminous Arc), the game mixes turn-based battles with unique team-based elements. With a fairly traditional storyline to boot, Arc Rise Fantasia is as nostalgic as a RPG title can be.
Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon (Nintendo Wii)
One of the most unique games on the Nintendo Wii, Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon from Xseed Games is a toned down survival-horror game where you played as a boy who became the last human being on Earth. You use the Wii Remote as a flashlight to explore the dark and seemingly empty world. Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon is the perfect title for gamers seeking a unique adventure game on the Nintendo Wii.
Half-Minute Hero (PSP)
This is probably the most unique title coming from Xseed Games. Half-Minute Hero uses the biggest clichés of the RPG genre and built an entire game around it. You get to play as the hero, knight, princess and villain. Each character provides different gameplay elements that take place in 30 second increments. Half-Minute Hero is fast and frantic, making it perfect for the handheld PSP.
Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star (PSP)
Speaking of RPGs, Xseed Games obtained the rights to publish the remake to the classic Lunar: Silver Star Story. Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star features brand new graphics, gameplay, music and story elements. The original game already has some of the most memorable moments in the RPG title. So this remake should be pretty special, especially giving the excellent track record of localization from Xseed Games.
Ju-on: The Grudge (Nintendo Wii)
The Grudge horror movies have taken over the world by storm thanks to its jump-out-of-your-seat scary moments. The director behind the movies is lending his expertise towards an interactive version of the movie. Ju-on: The Grudge from Xseed Games puts you in direct control of the horror scenes. So prepare for the scare of your life when the Nintendo Wii exclusive title comes out in October.
